You may have decided that therapy is the way forward, then the first step is to contact the Lakes Trauma Therapy via email or telephone. This initial contact will prompt an informal chat through a method suitable for you. This shall enable Maureen to obtain information about you and your current needs, and if psychological therapy would be appropriate. This is also a time for you to ask any questions about the treatment you may have so that you are able to make the informed decision as to whether this therapy is suitable for you.
If after the initial contact we both feel that an assessment appointment would be helpful, then you will be invited to an appointment with Maureen at a mutually convenient time.
What Happens In The Assessment?
Assessments typically last 1.40 hours. The main purposes of an assessment are:
- Gather more information about the issues you have been experiencing and would like to address, how long they have been affecting you and establish a mutual agreeable care plan to meet your needs.
- An opportunity for both client and therapist to decide if they can work through these issues together - What are your expectations and goals that you would like to achieve
Face-to-face assessments are generally preferred and carried out according to Covid-19 safety guidelines ; however, zoom or telephone appointments can be equally as affective
